Holidays Not Far From Home

Exotic holidays, long haul flights – the chance to travel the world is a fabulous privilege and one that so many of us are lucky enough to enjoy. When you’re young and child free, your travelling options seem as varied as all the countries you want to visit but when children come along or the sheer cost of hopping on a plane becomes a little out of reach, then it’s time to put on your creative thinking cap and find some holiday destinations that are a little closer to home.

In this blog, we take a look at some homespun adventures that you can undertake without the need to pack your flight socks but still with that taste of adventure.

Glamping Done Differently

You’ve heard of glamping and certainly a long weekend spent in a luxury yurt should well be on your list of options but how about glamping with a difference.

Take your tent or forest cabin and take it off the ground with treetop houses that are unlike anything else you’ve experienced.

With destinations across the UK and over the channel into France, you can put the spark back into your holiday with a romantic treetop hideaway for the pair of you or a magical family time complete with children and the dog.

Caravanning

Remember when you camped as a child or stayed in a caravan on a site miles from home? The simple fun that is sleeping almost outdoors but with running water and an oven is something that you can easily recapture.

Maybe you’re in a position to buy your own caravan from caravan dealers and start your own adventures as you tour the highways and byways of your own country or cross borders and head off on a long tour of the UK.

With your own caravan you can create a home away from home and will always know where the corkscrew is kept.

Adventure Holidays

For something a bit different, how about a holiday packed full of activities and adventure. White water rafting in Wales or horse trekking in Scotland. If you’re an active person then you might consider joining an activity holiday, a great option if you’re travelling alone.

Otherwise how about plot your own? A cycle ride across the South Downs Way, camping and staying in pubs along the way, done at your own pace and with as many rest breaks as you need.

Wherever you are and whatever your preferred style of holiday, there’s something right here on your doorstep that’s going to grab your attention. Outdoor active types will thrive on holiday that challenges them physically but that also give them the option to explore and see new sights.

Young adventures will enjoy sleeping in the trees and having their own treetop lodge for a holiday with a twist. If you remember your caravanning holidays with fondness as a child, then maybe it’s time to invest in your own little home on wheels and begin your explorations.
