Exploring London South Bank & Oxo Tower Wharf
I recently went on a bloggers day out exploring South Bank and Oxo Tower Wharf. It was the perfect festive day out filled with mulled gin, bauble making and unique design shops.
The Tate
We started off the day at the Tate and being big kids headed straight to the swings! We then got the lift up to the viewing level to take photos and admire the panoramic views of the London skyline. After this we had a look around the modern and contemporary art work. The Tate’s well worth a visit for the view point especially as entrance is free.
The Green Room
The Green Room is a diner, bar and garden serving delicious food and drinks. This winter they have a ‘Frost Fair’ pop up garden bar in collaboration with Sipsmith. We visited the bar to try out mulled sloe gin and toast some marshmallows. The mulled slow gin was so delicious, its definitely my new fave winter drink!
We then headed inside to try out the Christmas Menu, I went for the beef brisket croquettes and the turkey burger for main, both were delicious and very filling. For pudding I had frozen berries with a massive slab of white chocolate, which goes all gooey after being covered in hot raspberry sauce, so tasty! The Christmas menu costs £30 and includes a welcome drink so is pretty good value and is very tasty.Oxo Tower Wharf
Located within walking distance form Waterloo station, Oxo Tower Wharf is home to over 27 independent designers and makers. This is the ideal place to get unique gifts and presents whilst supporting small businesses. You can also find exhibtions, cafes and restaurants here.
Bramwell Brown
Located in Oxo Tower Wharf, Bramwell Brown’s sells some pretty spectacular animated mechanical clocks with a modern take on the barometer, displaying images of the weather to expect that day.
We visited Bramwell Brown’s for an afternoon of crafts, creating our very own Christmas Baubles. We each had a Christmas figure to paint and put inside a bauble. I painted my Santa’s sleigh with polka dots. It was such a lovely afternoon painting and enjoying a glass or two of wine.
We had such a fun day exploring the South Bank, there was so much to see and do. It’s a great place for art, culture, shopping and food. Next time I visit, I really want to try out Oxo Tower’s rooftop restaurant as the views look stunning.
Let me know if you like South Bank, or have found any hidden gems there?

For future reference, you don’t need to be a restaurant customer to enjoy the views from the top of the Oxo Tower … or at least we weren’t when we walked through the restaurant to the balcony (maybe that’s why we got funny looks?!). No, seriously, if you’re not hungry you can still go and have a look.
