20 Reasons To Go on a Cruise in Your Twenties

1.You can see so many different places in one trip

Millennials are known as a fast-paced generation because of our hectic lifestyles and busy schedules. Even when travelling many swap two weeks relaxing on the beach for multi-stop trips so we can see more of a country or even different countries in one trip. This is why cruises are a great option, you get to see plenty of different places but don’t have to worry about the long train trips or waste loads of hours in the airport. Just get on the cruise and wake up in an incredible new place each day.

2.You only need to unpack once

Another bonus about visiting all these places is that you only need to unpack once. You don’t need to worry about how to get to the next destination and then waste more time unpacking.

3.It’s perfect for families

Cruises have activities for everyone so it’s the kind of trip you can take with kids, parents and grandparents. Going on a cruise together is a great way to make amazing memories as a family and perhaps celebrate a large family milestone or event.

4.It’s great for solo travellers

Cruising is great with other people but it’s also a great thing to do by yourself. There’s so many other single travellers there, so you’re bound to meet new people. There are also so many things to do onboard the ship that you won’t get bored. If you’ve never been travelling by yourself doing solo cruises around the world is a good way to start. Everything is sorted for you so you don’t have to worry about how to get to the next destination or where to go out and eat.

5.Waking up in a new country each day feels magical

Nothing beats the feeling of waking up and going on deck to see the new landscapes every morning. Starting your day off with breakfast and your new sea view is an amazing feeling. Every day is exciting as you don’t know what you’ll see when you step off the boat.

6.Foodie paradise

The selection of food on cruises is amazing, there’s so many different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner or snacks throughout the day. You’ll never get bored with the selection and if you prefer a casual dinner you can go to the buffet or if you prefer a fancier sit down meal then those options also available.

7.Take a digital detox

Most cruises don’t offer free Wifi so it’s a good opportunity to spend time relaxing or socialising. Not spending loads of time on your phone checking emails or social media. You can have a bit of a digital detox on the cruise and instead spend time admiring the different locations you arrive at. It’s the perfect time to relax, connect with the people you’re travelling with or read a good book.

8.There are plenty of bars

You can enjoy a few drinks in the different bars onboard and some cruises even have nightclubs. More and more cruises are starting to offer unlimited drinks packages.

9.You don’t always have to get on a flight

If you have a fear of flying, then a huge benefit of cruises is that you don’t have to get on a flight. I went on a Caribbean cruise starting off from Southampton. This did include quite a few sea days so if you’re short on time or going to certain destinations then you will need to fly.

10.Spectacular shows

Every evening they’ll be some type of show such as dancers, singers or comedians. It’s great having different entertainment each night and it feels like you’re going out to the theatre every evening.

11.Meeting new people

On a big ship you’ll most likely bump into people of all nationalities. At dinner or by the pool you’ll probably end up sharing travel stories with people from all over the world.

12.Good value for money

There’s a misconception that cruises are super expensive, while some of them can be you can also find some great last minute offers or deals around. When you consider that all your food is included the prices can seem pretty reasonable. If you had to fly to all the places you visit on the cruise then you would end up spending a fortune.

13.Learn something new

On the P&O cruise I went on, each day we received a guide with all the things that were going on the next day. There where so many different things to do such as cooking classes, learning different hair styles, visiting the spa to find out more about skincare or joining in on an exercise class.

14.Get fit

Most cruises have gyms, pools and leisure areas so you can stay fit and active whilst onboard. Some cruises even have rock climbing and other activities you can take part in. If you don’t fancy that, then walking around the deck to admire the views is also a great way to get your step count up.

15.Service with a smile

The staff really go that extra mile to make your holiday special. If you dine in the same restaurants the waiters remember your food and drink preferences and are always so welcoming and friendly.

16.The photo opportunities are endless

If you love photography or getting photos for the ‘gram’ you’ll have endless photo opportunities on the cruise. You’ll be able to shoot beautiful sail-ins, epic sunsets and the beautiful destinations you arrive at.

17.You go to places you probably wouldn’t visit if you were travelling on your own

During my cruises there were a few places I’d never thought of visiting before but absolutely loved. On my Mediterranean cruise I went to Kotor in Montenegro which I hadn’t planned on visiting before but it was so beautiful, I’d definitely like to go back there. You get to see places you might not know much about but then fall in love with them.

18.Excellent itineraries

You can book trips onboard such as going on a glass bottom boat, bus tours, whale and dolphin watching and walking tours. If you don’t fancy any of the tours you can just do your own thing in the destinations.

19.Shop til you drop

You can do plenty of duty free shopping onboard if you fancy treating yourself to some new jewellery, skincare or makeup or buy some gifts for family and friends.

20.It’s relaxing

Waking up to blue skies and breathing in the fresh sea air gives you the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. Relax by the pools, work on your tan or pamper yourself at the spa.
