Quirky 25hours hotel Munich, The Royal Bavarian
I’m a huge fan of 25hours hotels, I’ve stayed at their Berlin and Vienna hotels and both were amazing!
25hours hotels are always quirky and fun, there’s always hidden surprises to stumble across.
Sam and I arrived at Munich’s central station and just across the road we spotted the 25hours hotel Munich Royal Bavarian with a brightly coloured peacock illumination in the window. Being so close to the station makes it ideal for tourists, it’s a 15 minute walk to Marienplatz, one of the central squares or you can just jump on the tram or metro to explore.
25hours Hotel Munich Review
Each 25hours hotel has a different theme, Munich’s is The Royal Bavaria. Entering the reception area you notice the dark blue hues, the colour of Bavarian Royalty. There’s a swan chair in reception and a swan toy in each room, King Ludwig II of Bavaria was sometimes called the Swan King. Swans were a heraldic animal of the knights. Postboxes hang on the walls throughout the hotel as it used to be a former Royal telegraph building.
The rooms
We stayed in the Box Room, white coloured bathroom tiles and curtains make the room bright and airy. The light wooden paneling resembles a sauna. The room has a bluetooth speaker, safe and a Freitag bag you can take out with you. We were located near the courtyard which was a quiet area and the bed was soft and luxurious so we slept really well. The only issue we had was that a cleaner came in one morning without knocking.
The shared spaces in this hotel make it such an exciting place to stay. The coffee shop is surrounded by greenery a perfect location to relax or meet friends.
NENI restaurant
The interior in the NENI restaurant is sleek and beautiful, we had breakfast here. There’s a buffet complete with sausages, eggs, pastries and cereal. You can also order coffees or there’s a selection of teas and juices to choose from. Breakfast can get quite busy, so sometimes we’d order omelettes or coffee and it wouldn’t always turn up due to how busy it was. However the buffet selection was really good. For lunch and dinner it’s an Israeli fusion restaurant serving sharing dishes and platters.
Boilerman Bar
The Boilerman bar serves a range of snacks and highball drinks, each day they have a drink special for €5.50. The bar is lavish with red velvet curtains, chairs and book shelves. During the day you can lounge on the sofas with a book and at night the curtains are drawn to reveal a dark sultry bar.
The spa area is the perfect place to recharge, rest your feet in the foot tubs, make yourself a herbal tea and warm up in the sauna.
The fitness area is small but if you fancy doing some exercise they have a cross trainer. You can also hire bikes at reception to explore the city.
The hotel is making efforts to be sustainable, with reminders to turn off the water and reuse your towels. They have the ‘stop the water while using me’ toiletries which smell amazing!
25hours hotel Royal Bavaria has managed to combine royal luxury with an edgy, Instagrammable vibe. The lounging areas are beautiful, great for having a drink and relaxing after a long day exploring. There’s so many small details around the hotel, each time you look around you’ll find something new. If you are staying for longer than a weekend then the box rooms might be a bit small for you. They also have chamber rooms or a swan suite if you’re feeling really fancy. You’ll love this hotel, you can sleep like royalty so you have the energy to explore Munich.
