Affordable London Sightseeing with Megabus

I really enjoy exploring London and showing friends and family around, but I rarely go on a sightseeing tour as they can be pretty expensive and it’s not always worth it. That’s until Megabus launched a sightseeing tour with prices starting from just £1!

One beautiful sunny evening some bloggers and I got to try out the Megabus London tour, we started off the night with a VIP London eye experience. Where we were treated to a glass of bubbly and gathered around our pod to admire how beautiful London looked below our feet, the views were incredible!

We then headed to the London eye bus stop to hop on the bus to start our tour of London. We boarded the bus with the Megabus mascot, Sid. You can either start the tour here, at Park Lane or the Tower of London.

Megabus London Tour Review

The Megasightseeing bus tour took us around all the big landmarks of London and we got to see over 50 of London’s famous sights in 2 hours. Throughout the tour there was recorded English commentary teaching you some facts about landmarks and historical sites. Some of the places we visited were the Tower of London, the Shard, Houses of Parliament, Downing Street and Piccadilly Circus, all the sights were beautiful to see as the sun set over London.

Each bus has been named after a famous person with a London link. The names of the buses are King Henry VIII, Sir Winston Churchill, King George V, Queen Elizabeth II, Lord Nelson, King Charles II, King William I, Sir Christopher Wren and Queen Victoria.

Overall thoughts

I really enjoyed this Megabus tour, it’s super cheap and your also guaranteed a spot upstairs which is brilliant as you get great views from there. I’ve also been on a different sightseeing bus before where I didn’t even get a seat, so I’d definitely recommend this tour! The bus tour is a lot cheaper than others in London with prices starting from just £1, not all tickets are £1 but it’s suggested that weekday fares are likely to be £3 to £5 and weekend fares around £10. Getting a tour for under is tenner is really good as other tour companies are around £30.

The price usually puts me off doing bus tours but I’ve done them before in Edinburgh and NYC. Given how cheap this is I’ll have to look in to doing one in London! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
