Planning The Best Camping Road Trip

There’s nothing quite like the freedom of camping vacations, or road trips – which is why it’s such a good idea to put them together. If you know where you want to go, you can combine your road trip with camping to get even more out of your adventure. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re going to have fun with it, then you need to make sure you’ve thought it through. You may have to sleep in your car some nights, or you may run out of food if you didn’t think far enough ahead.

Preparing your car

The vehicle you’re using for your trip is very important, as you want to make sure there’s enough space for everyone inside. If you’re going to take your family along with you, is there plenty of space for everyone to sleep through the night? Some days it’s going to be harder for you to find a spot to camp, and if you haven’t properly planned it out, or just want to get sleep without putting up a tent – you need to make sure your car has enough space.

Once you’ve packed everything into the car, you’ll have an even harder time finding the space, so experiment with some things and consider how much you’re going to pack.

Snacks

Ideally, while you’re on the road, you won’t run out of snacks at all. If you’re planning a really long road trip, then it can be hard to prepare enough food for everyone in advance, but there will be service stations for you to stock up at. Keep in mind that some service stations will charge more for their snacks, so if you’re looking to save money – try getting a decent amount of them before your trip.

There’s also the case of not always being able to cook depending on where you are. At times like this, you’ll need food that can be eaten cold. Whatever you do, be sure that you’re never running out of food – else it could ruin your vacation.

Planning campsites

Ideally, if you plan it right, you can land at a campsite each night and have somewhere to spend the next day if you’re not in a hurry to take off. Try looking into campsites all along your route and check how much they cost for one night. There’s nothing wrong with sleeping in your car, but sometimes it’s nice to have a bed.

Backup navigation

Most cars have a reliable navigation system in them which can make road trips fairly easy, and you won’t have to worry about getting lost. However, in case that for some reason fails you, it doesn’t hurt to have a map on you at all times – just in case. It might even be a good idea to brush up on your map reading skills if you’ve never given it a go.
