Top Things To Do in NYC With The CityPASS

Empire State Building

The Empire State Building observatory hosts incredible views over New York. With the New York CityPASS tickets you can even go back again at night free of charge and it’s open until 2am.

River Cruise

Cruise along the Hudson river as you take in views of the Manhattan Bridge and Statue of Liberty. With CityPASS you don’t need to book ahead just show up and choose from one of the cruises. The tour guide is very informative and they have a bar serving food and drink on board.

Visit Times Square

You can’t go to New York without visiting the iconic Times Square. Take a seat on the red steps by the TKTs booth to take in the bright lights and hustle and bustle of it all. I went on a Broadway and Times Square Tour with New York Tour 1, this tour is great if your a fan of musicals, you learn so much about the history of the theatres and who performed in them. They also have a variety of other tours available such as a Little Italy tour or High Line tour. If you are looking for cheap Broadway tickets then check out TodayTix and with referral code IQGWH you can get $10 off your order.

Relax at the High Line

This park on a former rail way track is a real oasis from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Walk along the high line and admire the greenery and flowers or take a break on one of the benches. They also have places along the way to stop for a snack or drink.

See a sports game

We went to a baseball game Yankees vs Cleveland Indians, the atmosphere at the stadium was brilliant with loads of die hard Yankee fans cheering. We went at the end of August, check what sports games are on when you go as they have different ones throughout the seasons.Central Park

Central Park is huge it’s a great place to walk or cycle around. I’d also recommend going rowing in the lake it costs $15 with a $20 deposit this holds up to 4 people.

I actually preferred the view here to the Empire State Building as there aren’t barriers in the way however the day we went it was pouring down with rain so we didn’t stay very long. Be aware the queues can be quite long and with the CityPASS you can’t book a time slot online. We turned up and it was very busy, we would have had to wait 2 hours to go in so we managed to book tickets for the next day. If you don’t have a CityPASS you can book time slots online to avoid queuing.

CityPASS

With the pass you get entry to the Empire state building, Rockerfeller Centre, River cruise, 9/11 memorial, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History. You also get a range of discount for Macys, Bloomingdales and many others. The passes save you a lot of money and are definitely worth getting if it’s your first visit to New York and you want to see all the attractions. For more info click here.

Food

Black Tap Burgers & Shakes

The burgers here are incredible, I’d recommend the Bison Burger which comes with pesto mayo, mozzarella and tomatoes. The crazy shakes are also amazing and very Instagrammable.

Ellen’s Stardust Diner

This 50’s themed diner with singing servers is located in Time Square. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but be aware there is normally a massive queue and you can’t reserve a table. We tried to go for dinner but the queue was too long so we came back for breakfast the next day and didn’t have to wait too long.

Lombardi’s

Lombardi’s was founded in 1905 making it the first pizzeria in the United States! The pizzas are delicious also fairly expensive but as they’re so huge you can share one.

Located in Times square this Hard Rock Cafe is home to a collection of music memorabilia. Serving American classics and legendary burgers.

Everywhere in New York is pretty expensive one of the cheaper hotels we found was City Rooms in Soho. The staff were friendly and there’s free tea and coffee downstairs. The room itself was quite small and is an hour walk to times square, if you use the subway round the corner then you can get there in 20 minutes. It’s located near Little Italy which is a great area to go for dinner.
