The Best Vegan Pizzas at Purezza
Initially, Purezza was founded in Brighton in 2015, becoming the first entirely vegan pizzeria in the UK. They were so popular that they opened a second restaurant in London, located just a short walk from Camden Town station. My friend and I visited Purezza on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy when we arrived, with a few people waiting for tables. Tanisha is a vegan so was very excited to try out their pizzas. I’m not a vegan but was very intrigued to see what their vegan cheese would taste like.
Starters
We started off the evening with the Purezza spritz, it’s similar to an Aperol but with pear cider and a dash of plum juice making it sweeter. For the starter we shared garlic bread with dips, this was loaded with garlic purée, rosemary and cheese. The garlic bread was delicious and I wouldn’t have been able to tell the cheese was vegan. The bread was soft and oozing with garlic and went really well with all the dips. My fave ones were the pesto, garlic mayo and hummus. We had some dips left so saved them to have with the pizzas.
Vegan Pizzas
Each pizza can be ordered with a different base, you can choose from gluten free, whole grain sourdough and their signature one hemp sourdough. I ordered the Parmigiana Party, the waitress suggested that this be on the whole grain sourdough and Tanisha went for the Portobello road on hemp sourdough. Each pizza was loaded with toppings, normally I find restaurants can be a bit stingy with toppings but that’s definitely not the case here.
My pizza was topped with aubergine, tofu sausage, basil, smoked mozzarella and nutritional yeast. The portobello road was topped with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and silken ricotta. We really liked the addition of the dips for the crusts and the dip selection with pizza is something I haven’t seen in many other restaurants.
We also had the Mac n cheese as a side and this was ridiculously good, it was so creamy and comforting. It’s good for sharing as it’s very rich.
Pudding
I was really full by this point but couldn’t resist trying their Oreo pizza for pudding. This was covered in hazelnut sauce with Oreos, this was amazing!
I left feeling very full after eating all the carbs, I’ve never eaten this much dough before, but it was so worth it as the food was amazing. I’d definitely visit again, all the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. Tanisha said it was the best vegan pizza she’d ever had and was super impressed with the vegan cheese.
