Budget travel: How to save money on your holiday

Going on holiday is the best! Nothing can beat taking a break from work and spending time relaxing in beautiful places but going away can get quite expensive. So here are my top tips on how to save money and still travel.

Bring snacks with you

Airport food can be quite pricey so it’s a good idea to pack some snacks in your hand luggage. This also comes in handy if you are arriving to a destination late at night. It’s also useful to have a water bottle with you as lots of airport and places around Europe have water fountains.

Create a packing list

Create a list of everything you need so you can tick it off whilst packing, this way you won’t have any extra costs of things to buy whilst on holiday. Try and pack comfy shoes and weather appropriate clothes and remember to bring the right travel plugs too!

Search around for the best deals

Spend time searching for the best deals and locations that you want to go, Kayak is great for finding cheap flights throughout different months. If you are looking for family breaks then Holiday Gems prices are fantastic. They have some great destinations such as Spain, Major and Gran Canaria.

Book in advance

Try and plan holidays in advance this way good deals won’t be sold out and you’ll have ages to get excited about your next trip. Keep an eye out for any offer codes you can use.

Take advantage of last minute deals

Even though its sometimes better to book in advance, airlines and hotels normally have good deals if you book last minute, as they just want to fill the room or airplane. Take a look at 1discount for great hotel and flight deals.

Book trips in advance

Booking bus tours and day trips can be cheaper online if you look around for deals. Some companies will charge a fortune for tours booked at the location.
