5 reasons why you should definitely travel

If you’re looking for someone to give you that final push into booking your travel adventure, then this is it! As a travel blogger, of course I’m a huge advocate of anyone and everyone hitting the road, seeing what the world has to offer and leaving their comfort zones behind them. Sadly, while travelling seems like such a good idea on paper, it’s not long before doubt begins to creep in and sometimes friends and family aren’t as supportive of your travel dreams as you might like.

If this sounds like your current scenario, and you’re struggling to decide if you should take the plunge or not, read on for 5 reasons why you absolutely should!

Remember – when you do decide to book your trip, you need to prioritise your travel health insurance. Having an insurance policy in place will not only give you peace of mind, but if the unexpected does happen then you know that you’re covered.  Make sure you find a policy that’s right for you as soon as possible.

It will open your eyes

In short, travelling will help you to open your eyes. You can read about other cultures, watch endless videos on YouTube or travel programmes dedicated to your favourite place on earth, but nothing will beat stepping foot in that country for yourself. Travelling exposes you to new cultures, new ways of thinking, of living and can even make you appreciate what you have at home. Who doesn’t want to be a more rounded person?

It helps you discover who you are

It sounds a little cliché when travellers say that backpacking across the world helped them find themselves. However, as cringy as that might sound, there is some truth to it. Travelling pushes you so far out of your comfort zone that you have no choice but to put yourself to the test. Navigating your way back to your accommodation at night, bartering with a seller at a market place, and being able to keep calm in a crisis, are all potential situations you could find yourself in. And how you manage these situations might surprise you.

You create new relationships

The people you meet on your travels will stay with you for life. Whether it’s a like minded backpacker, or a coffee shop owner that you chatted to every single morning. You’ll get to experience new perspectives and make your own personal world a little bigger.

It looks good on your CV!

Believe it or not, a gap between jobs or between your studies doesn’t look as bad as some people make out. While you’re travelling you’ll get to develop your people skills, your ability to communicate effectively, you’ll have the opportunity to work well under pressure and develop your own confidence, something which many job candidates will be envious of.

It gives you amazing memories

Trekking through Mongolia…learning how to drive a speedboat in New Zealand, bartering in Marrakech. All these memories will stay with your forever and looking back, you’ll be so glad that you have them.
