5 Australia Tips to Make The Most Of Your Trip

If you’re looking for your next travelling experience, then you couldn’t do much better than to choose Australia. It has stunning countryside, beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife, history, and culture, not to mention fantastic cities, too.

Flights to Australia are long and a trip there is usually a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you’ll want to make the most out of any trip down under.

5 Australia Tips:

1. Plan an itinerary in advance

Australia is a big country and many of the things you want to do and see will be very far apart. Make a list of all the places you want to see, then separate the list into two: things you must do and things you would like to do.

Once you have your list sorted, you can work out a route and your transport options. You don’t want to do a 10-hour drive from point A to point B if there is nothing to see along the way. Work out when it’s best to drive or take a bus, and when it’s better to fly.

2. Arrive and leave from two different places

If you arrive and depart from the same city not only will you end up spending twice as long as is necessary in that city but you will also waste time travelling along a route you have already visited.

If you are just travelling the East Coast then flying into Melbourne and out of Brisbane, or vice versa, is a good option. If you want to see even more of the country, then look at booking flights to either arrive or leave from Perth or Darwin.

3. Be prepared for things to go wrong

Even with the best planned itinerary, things can throw you off schedule: a delayed flight, a missed bus, or wanting to spend extra time with the new friends you make. Don’t stress if you can’t do everything you planned there will always be more you want to see than you can. Just enjoy what you end up doing. Make sure you are protected against any travel delays or loss of luggage so they don’t put a downer on your trip.

4. Don’t spend all your time in cities

Australia has some fantastic cities and all of them are worth visiting, briefly. You’ll likely want to check out some major monuments and tourist sites such as the Sydney Opera HouseBondi Beach, or Melbourne’s lanes, but after that, cities are much the same the world over.

Australia has some of the most incredible nature anywhere in the world. Make that your focus for a truly unique and awe-inspiring experience.

5. Be realistic

There is such a great number of incredible things to do in Australia that you could spend your whole life there and not have time to do them all. You probably won’t be able to see and do everything you want. Pick the things that are most important to you and try to focus your trip on one particular region to limit the time you spend travelling.

Decide if you want to go for breadth or depth. You can either go to 2-3 places and spend several days in each, or aim for half a dozen places but only spend a day or two in each place.
