Casa a Mare B&B Sorrento Review
Last year, Sam and I went on a road trip around the stunning Italian Amalfi coast and Sardinia. Our first stop was the beautiful town of Sorrento on the Amalfi coast for two nights. We stayed at a lovely Bed and Breakfast called Casa a Mare, which had the most welcoming hosts and incredible coastal views.
If you’re planning on going on holiday to Sorrento, we would definitely recommend staying here, we loved the homely Italian feel and view from the rooftop terrace.
Casa a Mare B&B Sorrento
Once we arrived we were shown to our room, given a brochure on the area and then taken up to the amazing rooftop terrace. Our host even bought us some handmade cakes and liquor which was really sweet.
The b&b has a cosy traditional Italian family vibe, the hosts are an Italian couple who will make you feel relaxed straight away. There’s a joint common area and only 4 other rooms so it doesn’t feel overcrowded. You can occasionally hear people walking around but it was never noisy or loud at night.
B&B Viewpoint
We had an amazing view overlooking the sea from our small balcony, and there’s also a rooftop with chairs to relax on whilst admiring the views, where they also serve breakfast.
Breakfast
Each morning you get a selection of food served on the rooftop terrace. The couple make their own yoghurt, jam and pastries. They brought out these with cereal, eggs, coffee and juice. I really enjoyed the homemade yoghurt and jam, they served us huge portions so we were never that hungry until the late afternoon.
Bathroom
We had our own bathroom with a shower, hairdryer and towels, one thing it didn’t have was any toiletries so make sure you bring your own.
How to get here
We got a bus here from Naples airport which dropped us off at the station in Sorrento, it was then a 20 minute walk to the b&b. There’s quite a lot of steps to walk down and the streets are cobbled and uneven. Unfortunately, our wheel came off our suitcase when wheeling it on the cobbles. Bear that in mind when taking your suitcase and try and carry it some of the way.
We also found it hard to find the B&B, we used Apple maps but it didn’t take us to the exact location, it took us to Hotel Tramonto, if you keep walking along the windy roads you’ll eventually come to some steps and the B&B is down on the right hand side, then go to the third floor for the B&B.
Location
If you’re wondering where to stay in Sorrento, one thing to consider is that it’s really easy to get around the town on foot as it’s not too spread out. This bed and breakfast is really close to the beach, but it’s about a 20 minute walk into the city centre.
If you love beaches then there’s also another beach a 15 minute walk away but this one right outside the B&B is cheaper, here you can rent 2 sun beds with an umbrella for €10. The beach and sea are very pebbly and get really hot so either wear flip flops as you walk to the sea or wear sea shoes. This beach does get super busy so get there early. There’s also a few restaurants and bars around if you get hungry.
The beach on the other side is mainly jetty’s with sunbeds and then steps into the sea so you can avoid walking into the pebbly bit. These are pricier though, around €15-20 per sunbed and most places charge €5-6 extra for an umbrella.
Price
This place was a lot cheaper than other places in Sorrento. It’s a bit further out than other accommodation but the walk isn’t too bad and we enjoyed walking around the old beautiful town, we also found an amazing viewpoint on the way to town. Plus if you want to spend time at the beach then this is ideal for you.
Overall thoughts of Casa a Mare
We loved the homely Italian feel of this place as the hosts were really accommodating. The breakfast was tasty and really filling, we were surprised with how much food they gave us! We also loved the views from the balcony and rooftop, definitely remember to bring your camera as you’ll want to take loads of photos. Another nice touch was that you could help yourself to pastries or use the coffee machine. Overall it’s a great place to stay in Sorrento.

Looks gorgeous, seems there are cobbled streets all over Europe! We also couldn’t find our apartment in Porto. Google maps took us to a restaurant but we find the apartment around the back and on top of the restaurant.

Thanks 🙂 yeah there’s so many pretty cobbled streets in Europe. Ah it seems like the maps aren’t always very accurate , it can take a while to find places
