Amazing Champagne Afternoon Tea at Mews of Mayfair London

I love afternoon tea and recently there have been more and more themed ones popping up around London. I had a look online and found that Bookatable have so many different options you can book. They even have Alice in wonderland and Mary Poppins afternoon tea but make sure you book these in advance as they book up pretty fast! The Mews of Mayfair champagne afternoon tea also looked really good so Sam and I decided to book this. It’s super easy to book just choose the date and it will come up with available times. There’s also space to note down any dietary requirements or special requests. You then get an email confirming your booking.

Mews of Mayfair afternoon tea review

We headed to Mayfair, the restaurant is hidden away down a little alleyway and it has loads of outdoor seating with heaters, it looked like a great location for cocktails! Mews of Mayfair looks like a large restaurant and bar, each corner you turn seems to reveal another part of the complex. The afternoon tea was in a separate room near the bar, we arrived at 2pm and were the first people in this room. The decor is opulent with beautiful lilac seating and black marble tables.

Once seated we were given a menu to choose our teas, they had a decent selection to choose from. I went for the silver tip Jasmine tea and Sam went for the Earl Grey tea. The tea arrived with an extra pot of hot water, which was useful so we could make extra. The jasmine tea was lovely, it was very fragrant and light. We also had a glass of champagne.

Afternoon tea Book a Table

One issue we had was the menu had changed from what we’d seen online, we were told the menu had changed the day before. This was a bit irritating as we’d chosen this specific afternoon tea because of the original menu. The waiter apologised and bought out a few items from the previous menu, but it would have been good to get an updated menu sent by email.

For the savoury selection we had mini buns filled with avocado, coronation chicken and pork, these were all tasty and not too filling. We then had a plain scone and fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, the cream was a bit too runny for my liking but the scones were warm, light and fresh. The best part of the afternoon tea was definitely the cakes! We had a chocolate tart and chocolate macaron which were both delicious. The passion fruit yoghurt was also amazing and refreshing. We then had Earl Grey shortbread and lemon cake. We enjoyed our afternoon tea and loved the decor of the restaurant. I’d go back to Mews of Mayfair try a few cocktails outside in their courtyard.

I’ll definitely be booking some more afternoon teas and will be checking out Bookatable to find some new places to visit. I really like the look of the Mad Hatters afternoon tea at the Sanderson, you can book this here.
