With it’s sunshine, beautiful beaches and fairly short flight time, it’s no wonder Mediterranean holiday destinations remain so popular. The region has idyllic scenery, delicious food and a rich history so there’s plenty of things to do on these trips. Read on to find out some of the best places in the Mediterranean to visit on a world cruise or summer holiday.

Nice, France

Stunning beaches, delicious food and mesmerising views make this a popular Mediterranean destination along the French Riviera. With a four mile stretch of over 30 beaches, you definitely won’t get bored here! Some beaches to visit include the family friendly beach St Laurent du Var, picture-perfect Villefranche Plage or you can enjoy walking along the iconic seafront Promenade de Anglais lined with grand houses and cute cafes.

Ajaccio, Corsica

Rugged mountains, emerald countryside and stunning blue waters make Ajaccio a picture perfect destination. Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica and is most famous for being the birthplace and early home of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Palma, Majorca

Palma is a resort city and capital of the Spanish island of Majorca in the western Mediterranean. With excellent beaches and a warm temperature all year round, Palma is definitely worth visiting. There’s also plenty of historical buildings here such as the massive Santa María cathedral, a Gothic landmark overlooking the Bay of Palma. West of the city there’s also Bellver Castle, a grand medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape.

Dubrovnik, Croatia
