Here are our top choices.

Wine locations around the world

Chile, South America

One of the world’s largest producers of wine, Chile’s naturally fertile land and dry climate allow for optimum production of grapes. Famous for their sweeter Chardonnays and Latin America’s very first sparkling wine, there are thousands of wineries dotted across the coast of Chile, with many offering tours or lunches and dinners that pair their personal wines with some of the region’s best food. Take a visit to the famous Maipo Valley in the Andes Mountains for some of the most majestic scenery around- the perfect location to sip the hundreds of wine varieties the local vineyards make. If you’re not inspired to book your tickets yet, Chile is also the location for this year’s total solar eclipse, making it the perfect time to visit this spectacular country.

Champagne, France

As wine lovers will know, Champagne has a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to sparkling wine. Why? Because this UNESCO site is the only location where one can truly drink Champagne – any other isn’t true champagne. The travel blog LiveShareTravel explains that this gorgeous region of France boasts a landscape of thousands of vines stretching as far as the eye can see, beautiful architecture and historic villages, and is a short train ride from the bustling capital. Tour one of the local vineyards and experience delicious wines, paired with the best cuisine France has to offer for a vin-infused paradise.

Marlborough, New Zealand

For those who prefer a crisp white wine, New Zealand has a slice of paradise just for you. Famous for their Sauvignon Blancs, Marlborough is the largest wine region in New Zealand and produces around two thirds of the country’s wine. The country is also best known for its experimentation with traditional winemaking methods and flavours, resulting in bold, defiant wines that have caught favour with aficionados across the world.

With a naturally warm climate that nurtures the grapes, Marlborough has a bounty of vineyards available to tour, as well as offering boat cruises along its waterways, where popular wines will be paired with seafood and other delicacies of the region.

Napa Valley, California, USA

This iconic location on the Northern Coast of California has quickly become one of the most popular tourist destinations for wine lovers and novices alike wanting to sample their famous vintage bottles. The area is also known for its excellent cuisine, inspired by fresh and local ingredients, and is built into a stunning hillside that makes for brilliant landscape viewing during your wine tastings. There are over 400 wineries across this expansive area, all with their own distinctive tastes and production methods.

There are just so many lovely places to enjoy wine. I’ve been fortunate to visit a few in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland along with a few places in Australia but I’ve barely scratched the surface!
