A Quick Guide For Your Next Impromptu Beach Day

Some areas of lockdown are slowly being lifted and for many people all over the country this means finally being able to enjoy some time away from the house. Many people are already excitedly planning their next trip – especially since they may not be able to go abroad this year. If you’ve decided you want to head out on an impromptu beach day in the next few days and make the most of the glorious weather, read on for some quick tips:

1.Stock Up On Drinks And Snacks

You don’t know which places are going to be open when you arrive at the beach – chances are, the little places you would usually get your drinks and snacks will either be closed or have very long queues. To combat this, take your own drinks and snacks so you don’t have to wait around. It’s especially important to make sure you have enough water if the weather is hot, as dehydration can happen quickly and you will suffer for it!

2.Don’t Skimp On The SPF

It doesn’t matter if the sun isn’t all that bright in the sky – make sure you take plenty of SPF with you. Protecting your skin from the sun, both your body and face, is the best proven way to prevent premature ageing. The biggest factor in ageing is the sun and its harmful rays, so make sure you apply it liberally every few hours. This is especially important for kids. Helping them to avoid burns is paramount to their comfort and skin health.

3.Protect Your Eyes

The sun can be very harmful for your eyes, so make sure you buy some prescription sunglasses. This will ensure you can enjoy your trip without straining your eyes and that the rays don’t damage your retinas. You’ll not only protect your eyes, but the delicate skin around your eyes.

4.Make Sure It’s The Right Kind of Beach For You

Make sure you do a little research beforehand so that you know what you’re getting yourself into before you arrive at the beach. You don’t want to end up at a nudist beach if you were hoping for some wholesome family fun. A beach that doesn’t allow dogs will also be a disaster if you were hoping to take your canine pal for a fun day out. Make sure you know what’s allowed and what’s not.

5.Check The Rules Around Your Favourite Activities

On the subject of what’s allowed, make sure you check for things you might assume are a given, only to find out that they are forbidden. You may not be able to barbecue food or jetski, and if that’s what you had planned then you’ll probably be pretty put out! Ensure the beach doesn’t have limited mobility if you or somebody you are travelling with has a wheelchair or other access requirements, too.

6.Stay Hygienic

Just because you can go to the beach and pretend to be normal for a while doesn’t mean you can forget the rules altogether! Make sure you take your hand sanitiser and stay as far away from other people as you reasonably can!
