If you plan to visit Canada, it is a great idea to plan your trip carefully to make the most of your experience. As Canada is so vast, there are many places to explore, so you may want to cram as many of Canada’s best locations into your trip as possible. Canada is a once in a lifetime destination for many people, so here is how you can enjoy a holiday to Canada to the max.

Start Planning Early

It’s no exaggeration to say that many people’s holiday plans have been thrown into disarray over the past year or more. So, planning your holiday early is an excellent way to have something to look forward to and have fun making preparations. Starting your planning early will also ensure you have time to make any changes to your preparations if the pandemic situation changes.

Deciding when you want to visit Canada is a vital consideration. Thinking about when you will travel will depend on what you want to see and do while you are there. If you enjoy winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding, the colder months are the perfect time to visit. The Rocky Mountains benefit from an extended winter thanks to the area’s lower temperatures. The lowest recorded temperature in The Rockies was an incredibly chilly -62°F. If you want to see Canada when it is less crowded and benefit from lower prices, autumn could be ideal for your trip after the summer tourists have left and before the winter sports season begins.

Sort Out Your Documentation

Making sure you have the correct documentation for your trip to Canada is essential. You may not need a visa for your holiday, but you will likely need an electronic travel authorisation known as an etA to enter Canada. You can find out more about what an etA is and how to obtain one at canada-eta.com.

As you probably have not used your passport for quite a while amid the coronavirus pandemic, it is worth checking your expiration date. Although Canada is not one of the countries requiring you to have at least six months left on your passport, it may be worth renewing it if travel restrictions delay your trip.

Best Places to Visit in Canada

One of the most exciting parts of visiting a country as large as Canada is deciding where to visit. Did you know that Canada is the second-largest country in the world and home to the world’s longest coastline? With so many different regions to choose between and such a dramatic difference in the types of holiday available, you may need to take your time choosing. Here are some of the destinations you may want to consider visiting as part of your Canadian adventure:

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of Canada’s best-known locations and a must-see destination for anyone visiting Ontario. Niagara Falls is most associated with its waterfalls, but it is also the name of the Ontarian city and its twin city, Niagara Falls, in the state of New York. This spectacular natural wonder is made up of three waterfalls and bridges the boundary between Canada and the United States of America.

There is enough to see and do at Niagara Falls to spend a few days here if you wish. But, if you simply want to get up close and marvel at the power and size of this beautiful sight, then head to the Table Rock Centre. If you would like to appreciate Niagara Falls differently and love an adventure, you will find plenty of opportunities to explore. You can take a boat trip, get a bird’s eye view on a helicopter ride, and even get a unique view of the Falls from a zipline! Visit Niagara Falls after dark to see it illuminated in spectacular style. The colourful illuminations are switched on from 8.00 pm until 2.00 am every day.

CN Tower

If you have a head for heights and plan to visit Toronto on your trip to Canada, the CN Tower is definitely somewhere to add to your list. It would be impossible to miss the CN Tower when in Toronto as it stands at over 500 metres tall. A visit to the LookOut level of the Tower will enable you to enjoy views across the city and beyond as far as Niagara Falls and New York State. If you are feeling brave, you can dine at the CN Tower’s 360 Restaurant, which, as its name suggests, is a revolving restaurant, or enjoy a unique perspective from the Glass Floors of the Tower.

Whistler

As winter sports destinations go, they don’t get much more famous than Whistler. Whistler is located in the Coast Mountains, British Columbia and as well as being a world-class winter sports destination, offers plenty more besides. The Village offers restaurants, museums, shops and art galleries to enjoy during your stay. With plenty of opportunities to get active on and off the slopes, Whistler is an ideal destination to visit on your trip.

Yukon

To experience the Canadian wilderness for yourself, Yukon is the place to go. If you love nature, you can marvel at the wonderful wildlife that inhabits Yukon. During your visit, you may be fortunate enough to spot caribous, elks, bison, and eagles. But, there is another reason Yukon attracts visitors: it is one of the few places on Earth where you can see the Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights. If you are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, it is sure to be a highlight of your incredible trip to this immense country.
