Sicily travel guide: the best beaches
Beautiful sunshine, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches- it might sound like a fantasy paradise but look no further than wonderful Sicily and you will find this dream is in fact a reality. Sicily has so much to offer its visitors it is hard to find a place to start. From incredible local cuisine, fascinating historical monuments and even a live volcano- this little island has it all. But the main draw of having a holiday in Sicily has to be its selection of incredible beaches, which attract visitors from across the globe. To avoid the crowded hotels during peak times of year many savvy travellers are choosing to find and rent locally owned luxury villas in Sicily where they can truly enjoy all that this amazing destination has to offer in the space and comfort of their own villa. The hardest part of a holiday in Sicily is choosing which of the numerous gorgeous coastal towns you want to visit first!
Here are my top four beaches to help you with your choice.
San Vito lo Capo
Situated in the North of the island, this stunning beachfeels like one of Sicily’s best-kept secrets. Offering white sand and sparkling clear waters San Vito lo Capo beach has the added backdrop of a large rocky mountain creating a dramatic and breath-taking view for all your beachside photographs!
Scala dei Turchi
Speaking of stunning backdrops it’s impossible to discuss Sicily’s most beautiful beaches without having Scala dei Turchi on the list! The name roughly translates as the Turk’s staircase, which refers to the area’s Arab history, and the incredible white rock formation that looks out over the sea. Those with young families can relax on the sandy beach and paddle in the shallow waters, but those looking for something a little more exciting might want to scale the staircase themselves and jump into the turquoise waves below!
Isola Bella
Get ready to take a lot of pictures on your trip to this iconic beach in Sicily. Ideal for those who want to enjoy some of the island’s incredible sea life, Isola Bella is a fantastic spot for snorkelling. If you’re looking for white sand you may want to look elsewhere as this is a stony beach. But if you want to see just how naturally stunning Sicily is this beach is a must-see!
Spiaggia dei Conigli
Literally, “Rabbit Beach”, this is actually on one of Sicily’s many surrounding islands, meaning you’ll have to put in a bit of travel time if you want to reach it. But trust me, it’s worth it! In fact Spiaggia dei Conigli has been voted as one of the worlds most beautiful beaches. It is surrounded by a protected nature reserve and is the epitome of an island paradise with pristine white sand and turquoise waters.

Great post and photos!
Spent 9 days in Syracuse last September and really loved it – Sicily is gorgeous. Must return…I have no excuse not to as I only live 2 hours away. 😉
