What shoes to pack for your travels

Solving the Travel Footwear Conundrum, what shoes to pack?

When packing for a trip or vacation getting to the stage where everything you need is laid out on the bed is relatively easy, especially if you use a packing list. Then, you just need to fit everything into your case.

Often, it’s then that you realize that you only have room for one pair of shoes in your case. Somehow, you are going to have to manage to get through your two-week vacation with just two pairs of shoes. A thought that fills many of us with dread, largely because we are so used to having dozens of pairs of shoes, boots, sneakers, and sandals to choose between. If you’re on the lookout for some new shoes check out jdwilliams.co.uk as they have a large selection of options.

Fortunately, two pairs is all you really need. Secondly, I can explain how to choose the right ones to take with you.

Think about the activities you plan to do

Start by making a mental note of the activities you are hoping to enjoy while on your holiday. Now, work out the type of footwear you will need for each one.

Thinking like this narrows the options down considerably. Usually, you will realize that you need a pair of closed-in sneakers or boots and some comfortable, stylish shoes that will keep your feet cool.

At this stage, you should also think about the weather conditions you are likely to encounter. If you are staying somewhere really cold you may be best off packing and wearing boots. Whereas, for a hot climate two pairs of sandals could be the way to go.

What shoes to pack

Wear your heaviest shoes for the journey

If at all possible wear your heaviest or bulkiest footwear for the journey. This will stop you from using up too much of your weight allowance and leave more space in your case for other things.

Pack soft form shoes

Shoes that are made from softer materials can easily be squeezed into a small space. Plus, this type of footwear has the added benefit of being very comfortable to wear. Something you definitely want when traveling, when you are likely to be spending much more time on your feet than you normally would.

Ballerina shoes are an especially good option for the ladies. They are low-heeled, usually made from soft fabric. Plus, their classic styling means that they can just as easily be worn for a glamorous night out as for the walk to the beach.

Flat shoes are also best because low-heeled shoes take up less space in the case. If you do decide to pack a pair of high heels, fill the toes with socks. Then pack them into the suitcase in the way that is demonstrated in this video.
